Mind the Bridge

DDS-City Touring Camera

BOOTCAMP 10 PARTICIPANT

Free to see. Free to know.

The idea is related to the integration of a GPS (Global Positioning System), a magnetometer and a “map” (a look up table), to univocally identify an object of historical/cultural interest. In particular, it will be applied on a camera: the user, by pointing the object of interest (a monument, a church, a fountain, a sculpture…) will obtain the information about its hystory, building, architecture…It will be necessary to download the information related to the city/cities that the tourist is planning to visit, and all its monuments. A custom-made software will be able to look for and retry from already formatted web sites (like wikipedia…) all information related to the hystorical places of the city: the user will just write the name of the city (e.g. Rome) and the language in which he/she wants to obtain the guide (e.g. Italian). The pack will be transfer on the camera by USB or memory card, and it can be delated after using (at the end of the journey). Thus, the camera will be an authomatic touristic guide that will recognize what the user is seeing/ the screen is framing, and by changing the mode of the camera (a switch with camera/guide), it will give information related to the monument in real-time. The tourist won’t have to read long touristic guide and to walk with supplementary weight, but he/she will be free to move, to watch and to know everything about what he/she is observing in the city. And, finally, to take pictures.
