Over the years, Dr. Onetti has developed in-depth expertise in the areas of corporate strategy and corporate finance. He serves as a consultant for leading banking groups and for Italian and multinational companies and sits on the board of some private companies. His research interests are focused in the life science industry and business models for high-tech companies. Dr. Onetti is the author of an extensive list of conference contributions, books and articles that include: “Strategia d’impresa,” Il Sole 24 ORE Libri, which has reached the 3rd edition; “Balanced Scorecard im Krankenhaus,” which has been published in Germany by Economica Verlag; and “Business Models for Biotech” to be published by Routledge later this year.
Dr. Versaggi is president of Versaggi Biocommunications, a marketing consultancy specializing in corporate and marketing communications for the global life-science industry. With nearly 30 years of strategic marketing and communications experience, he helped launch a number of industry firsts — including the first genetically engineered vaccine for Chiron Corp. (marketed by Merck & Co.), the first applications of minimally invasive surgery for CardioThoracic Systems (now Abbott Vascular), the first DNA arrays for Hyseq Inc., and the first genomic disease management products for Vysis Inc. (now Abbott Molecular) to help qualify breast cancers patients for Herceptin® (Genentech).
He recently served as co-chairman of the board for VascularCures — the Foundation for Accelerated Vascular Research at the University of California San Francisco. Previously, he served as Director of Bioindustrial Account Services for Regis McKenna Inc., a marketing consultancy that helped launch Genentech and Apple Inc., among other technology leaders. A Mass Media Science Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), he was a science writer for The Milwaukee Journal and taught science journalism at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC). A frequent guest speaker for the UCSC Bioscience Business and Marketing Program, Dr. Versaggi earned his doctorate in biological sciences from the University of California, Santa Barbara and holds an M.A. and B.A. in biology from San Francisco State University.
Mr. Asquini is an industrial designer, serial entrepreneur, restructuring specialist, and the co-founder of Super//Fluo, a Pordenone-based com¬pany focused on the design and creation of Friulian TVs, plasmas and LCDs. Super//Fluo is the product of a 2006 restructuring that he implemented of Seleco Brionvega and Imperial, well established names in high-end consumer electronics. Additionally, Mr. Asquini is the co-founder of the Italian Angels for Growth (IAG), the largest angel investment group in Italy aimed at promoting Italian entrepreneurship.
A native of Udine, Mr. Asquini gained his first entrepreneurial experience in 2001 through the acquisition of Spei Orion S.p.A, a printed circuit-board manufacturer. In less than nine months he brought the company from three negative fiscal years to a net profit of €1 million. Previously, after only six months of employment, he was appointed CEO of Lima S.p.A., a developer of orthopedic prostheses and aeronautical materials he subsequently restructured, increasing its net profit by more than €4 million within two years. His successful track record of company restructuring to profitability continued before focusing on Super//Fluo.
Allergic to ties and a professed “black T-shirt victim,” Mr. Asquini is an avid sports enthusiast, and declares his craziest ideas come from brain-oxygen deprivation during his early morning jogs. He also races motorbikes in the Supersport Class of the Campionato Italiano Velocità. Mr. Asquini graduated in Business Administration from the Universita‘ Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, and earned a Master in Leadership and a Master in Finance from Sundridge Park (London). He also completed a Master in Business through the Young Managers Programme at INSEAD (Fontainebleau).
Mr. Camiciotti is responsible for the Development Program of the TOP-IX Consortium. The program aims at facilitating new business creation by providing infrastruc¬tural support, such as Internet bandwidth and cloud computing, to early stage Internet ventures. Previously, he was Research Scientist, Strategy & Business Development Officer and Business Owner at Philips Corporate Research. He enjoys venture creation, business development, disruptive innovation, and he adds, “…mostly, curious people!” Mr. Camiciotti graduated in Electronic Engineering from the University of Florence and holds an M.B.A. from the University of Turin.
Mr. Maifredi is an Investment Manager in the Milan office of 360° Capital Partners. Prior to joining the firm, he worked as Engagement Manager in the New York and Houston offices of McKinsey & Company and as Project Manager in one of the leading Italian multi-utilities. He currently serves as board observer in two companies in which 360° Capital Partners has invested: a waste-to-energy company in stealth mode and a water technology company (Biolase, S.p.A.) that is developing and commer¬cializing a new sludge treatment technology.
Mr. Maifredi has extensive experience in renewables, power generation, upstream oil and gas, and medical device businesses with particular focus on investment selection, deal structuring, strategic and business planning, business development and policymaking. He earned an M.B.A. from Darden School of Business Administration of the University of Virginia, and Master degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering from the University of Brescia, Italy.
Dr. Robinson is co-founder of NicOx, a pharmaceutical company focused on the research, development and commercialization of drugs for the treatment of inflammatory, cardiometabolic and ophthalmological dis¬eases. She has served as the President of the NicOx Research Institute Srl since January 2006. She has extensive experience in the develop¬ment of innovative pharmaceutical components. She is a founding member and shareholder of Relivia Srl, an Italian company specialized in dermatology. Previously, she has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of LayLine Genomics, Director of Development at Recordati Italie, Consultant in technological development for Techint Engineering Company, Vice President of New Technology Ventures at Genzyme, and visiting scientist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Dr. Robinson graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Wellesley College in 1977. She received a Master in Chemistry and a Doctorate in Biotechnology from MIT. She is also a member of “Italian Angels for Growth” and “First Generation” in Italy. She is a member of the Fulbright Commission in Italy and on the Board of Directors of Biogenera.

Dr. Cherubino is a senior associate at Mazzoni Associati, a leading Italian boutique specialized in banking and structured finance law, where he advises private equity managers in relation to the structuring and establishment of private equity and real estate investment funds, secon¬dary financings, incentive plans, carried interest arrangements and co-investment plans. With extensive experience in a wide range of jurisdic¬tions, he also advises on general corporate law and related matters. Dr. Cherubino has been practicing in New York and Milan since 2004 and 2006, respectively. Additionally, he serves as a member of several steering committees of the American Bar Association International section, and acts as a liaison for the American Bar Association to the Consiglio Nazionale Forense.
Mr. Cherubino is chairman of Associazione Avvocati e Commercialisti dell’Insubria (AACI), a leading Italian lawyers and accountants association devoted to the education of Italian lawyers and tax accountants to business law. The author of numerous articles on corporate law, he teaches European Commercial Law at Universitá degli Studi dell’Insubria, Varese, Italy. Tommaso holds a JD from Università degli Studi di Pavia, and an LLM from the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Liverani also serves as Managing Partner of ClassFinance, a Milan-based financial advisory firm, and is Regional Network Officer of World President Organization (WPO) Europe. From 1991-2005, he developed Algol Group, a distributor of network computing products and Internet infrastructure solutions. He was CEO of Algol France, and Chairman & CEO of Algol Group (Milan). Before that, he was CEO and founder of California-based ALCOM Corp., a manufacturer of document communica¬tions servers.
His previous positions include CEO and founder of Natus Medical Inc., Medical Instrument Company ALGO-1, a manufacturer of infant auditory brainstem response screeners; CEO and founder of Algol SPA (Milan), a distributor of network computing products; and Director of R&D at Medical Instruments Company Amplaid SPA (Milan). Past directorships include Chairman of OhMy Corp., an Internet fun-card provider; WorldOnline, an ISP; LookNBuy (e-commerce); Party America, a West Coast retail chain; and Alcom Oy (Finland), a public high-tech group.
