Graduated in law with honours at the State University of Milan. Journalist since 1975, in 1979 he begins working at “Corriere della Sera” as a Reporter at first, and  as an Economics Editor later.
He worked as Editor in Chief for the magazine “Europeo” and for the newspaper “Il Sole 24ORE”. In April 1987, works as Editor in Chief and as Commentator for the Economics section of “Corriere della Sera”. In 2005 he is designated as Editor of “Il Sole 24 ORE” and Publishing Director of “Il Sole 24ORE Publishing Group”.
Since 2009 he is the Editor of “Corriere della Sera” and Vice – Chairman of  “Rizzoli  Corriere  della Sera Foundation”. At the present time, he is President of “Memoriale della Shoah Foundation” and of the “Vozza Foundation”. He is a member of the Board of Directors of several Foundations. He is a member of the “Aspen Institute Italia” and he presides over the jury of the “Estense Award”.
He won several journalistic awards.
