Up to 1995, while at university, Matteo participated in the development and implementation of APE100 and APE1000, a SIMD super parallel super computer developed by INFN from an idea by Giorgio Parisi and Nicola Cabibbo. In 1995 he co-founded Venere.com with M.Bellacci, R.Sarno e G.Strekelj. Venere.com was built from scratch with self-funding up to year 2000, when Kiwi II invested in Venere as a minority shareholder. In 2006 Advent International acquired a majority stake in the company. In 2008 Expedia acquired Venere. In 2009 he co-founded together with other Italian and British entrepeneurs, Brightwide, the first digital platform showcasing social and political world cinema. in 2009 he also founded a book publishing company (L'Asino d'oro edizioni).
